Chamber Committees & Councils

As a member, your participation in the Chamber's decisions and direction is welcome – and critical to our community's growth and prosperity. Below is a list of Chamber Committees and Councils, one or more of which you may choose to join.  Dates and times are subject to change. Please call 873-2931 to confirm meeting times.

AMBASSADOR TEAM
Meeting schedule: Last Wednesday at 8:00 am
Committee Chair: Wendy Mueller

Volunteer Chamber members that serve as a liaison between members and Chamber staff by obtaining members' input on Chamber programs.  Increase retention rate of new and existing members by conducting an on-going program of goodwill calls and networking opportunities.

ENERGY & ENVIROMENT
Meeting schedule: 3rd Tuesday at 8:00 am

Purpose is to engage in the many issues surrounding the production and distribution of energy to include all common types of alternative energies. Also engages in similar issues of enviromental protection and protection of natural resources.

FINANCE DIVISION
Meeting Schedule:  Monday before the 2nd Tuesday at 4:00pm

Establishes annual budget for Chamber. Evaluaates and makes recommendations financial position of Chamber.

HOME BASE BUSINESS COUNCIL

This council was formed for the benefit of those who own home-based businesses, whether you are a distributor/franchisee or the sole owner of your business. Unique issues facing home-based businesses will be addressed.

KNIGHTSVILLE AREA COUNCIL
Meeting Schedule:  3rd Wednesday at 8:00 am

Addresses issues and concerns affecting the Knightsville business community.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

Meeting Schedule: 3rd Wednesday at 2:30pm
Committee Chair: PJ Johnson

To create a communications/ messaging platform that assures timely, relevant information for all Chamber members and the communities we serve. Sub-committees within this divison include: brand/logo evaluation; print messaging; website enhancement/ optimization; social media; and community messaging.

MEMBER SERVICES COMMITTEE
Meeting schedule: 3rd Tuesday at 9:30 am

Focuses on new member recruitment and membership retention programs. Member services is a forum for Council and Committee leaders to share information and resources.  

NORTH SUMMERVILLE AREA COUNCIL

Address issues and concerns that impact businesses in the North Summerville area of the business community.

OAKBROOK COUNCIL
Meeting Schedule:  3rd Tuesday at 5:30 pm

Identify and address concerns affect that effect business in the Oakbrook Business Community.

PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE
Meeting Schedule:  1st Tuesday at  8:00 am

Focuses on public policy issues and legislation affecting the surrounding communities. Maintains relationships with governmental officials and organizations.

SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE

Purpose is to assist with various aspects of larger annual events (Gala; Golf Tournament and Taste of the Town)

TOURISM COUNCIL
Meeting Schedule:  4th Thursday, Meeting times vary

Council is formed by chamber members whose main purpose is to provide a forum to exchange and promote ideas in Travel and Tourism. Addresses the issues affecting the local tourism industry.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Promotes the idea of an educated workforce by supporting local educational institutes. Liaison between Industrial community and the schools.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS COUNCIL

Meeting Schedule: 3rd Thursday at 6:00 pm

Provides opportunities for young business professionals ages 21 - 40 to network and become more involved in the Summerville community.
